HRMS Facilities

ALTA maintains a Sample Control Department designed to meet stringent NELAC standards. A segregated sample log-in area, including an 8 foot hood has been dedicated to receipt and unpacking of biological samples. Sample security, temperature maintenance and document tracking is conducted according to ALTA's Standard Operating Procedures.

Environmental Laboratories

Two separate laboratories are designated for the preparation of environmental samples for the determination of PCDD/PCDF, PCB, PAH and other semivolatile contaminants. One of the laboratories is dedicated to MM5 air train preparation in support of air toxic engineering projects. The other laboratory is used for the preparation of pulp and paper industrial effluents, soils, and biota samples.

Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

A custom instrument operations room accommodates three high resolution double focusing magnetic sector mass spectrometers. Environmental control systems are designed to maintain constant temperature and minimize dust by directing the air flow through high efficiency filters.
